Some dam photos

And one non dam photo

Canyon Ferry Dam at night. 15-30 second exposures make the water in the river and the spillway look really smooth.

fresh shots

From the last week or so. It's summer in Montana for the most part, although there is a little bit more afternoon rain than I would prefer.

Lens Repair

I had a surprisingly painless lens repair experience last night (so far). My canon EF-S 17-85 zoom was sticking halfway through the zoom range. It turned out it was due to a loose screw inside the lens that was catching. I tightened it up and put it back together. Seems to work so far. There was two tricky parts- there is a sliding brush inside the lens that must be there to communicate the zoom position through the rest of the lens and the to the camera that is easy to bend. The other tricky thing was the front optic is mounted on a sliding mount that adjusts focus (I assume). I marked this with a knife scratch before disassembling and put it back together the same way.

Sierras

This is the first set of pics from my recent trip to snowboard in the Eastern Sierras. It was a long drive down there, but 6 days of snowboarding in the sun and soaking in hot springs made it worth the drive.

Tetons

From late last summer. Notice the giant RV's on the road. Clearly the best way to enjoy our nations national parks.

more München

It's a triumphal arch that used to be a monument to the strength of the Bavarian army, but the inscription now reflects on the value of peace. "Dedicated to victory, destroyed in war, exhorting in peace."
